The benefits of earthing (grounding) and how to practise it

Ellie, our osteopath, stresses the importance of providing opportunities within our climate change garden for holistic medicine. The idea is to stand barefoot on earth for 10 minutes a day to detox and would like us to include a 'grounding' spot and seat within our climate change garden.

Grounding, also called earthing, is a therapeutic technique that involves doing activities that “ground” or electrically reconnect you to the earth - for potential health benefits.

The most recent scientific research has explored grounding for inflammation, cardiovascular disease, muscle damage, chronic pain, and mood.

“When grounded the diurnal rhythm of the stress hormone, cortisol, begins to normalise. Cortisol is a vital part of our bodies stress response system and helps control blood sugar levels, regulate metabolism and inflammation, and assist with memory formation. ‘’
