Our vision is of a place where local people of all ages can come together, feel part of our community, learn from each other and celebrate our remarkable heritage.
We want to give the Caerphilly Miners back to the community!

Getting to the end of a very long journey!
Spring is here!
Our community hall, music room and craft room are open. We’re starting to refurbish our kitchen and our portico will be restored over the next few months.
Our Wellbeing Therapy Hub including Back 2 You (osteopath, chiropodist, reflexologist), Lisa Morgan Beauty, Intherapy Counselling, Balans acupuncture, and Hair by Lyndy Robins is open.
There’s still work to be done on the ground floor and our café and other rooms will reopen soon.
Our climate change garden is also growing and flourishing, providing a beautiful outdoor space for the well-being of our community.
We are planning to open the project formally in the summer, but in the meantime, thank you to everyone who has been involved as a member of staff, volunteer, a business or onlooker for your support and patience. Let’s enjoy what we have created together!

Happy New Year!
Caerphilly Miners Centre is open from 4th January
Because of the high levels of Omicron Covid in the community we will enforce government restrictions of social distancing, registration, hand sanitising, and mask wearing.
We will continue to do what we can to deliver services and activities to our community, whilst assessing the risk to and safeguarding your health and safety.
There will be no refreshments available for the time being as we do not want you to remove your masks.
Tutors and class leaders have decided whether to meet at the centre. Some activities are postponing their start by a week or two weeks. We are also providing Zoom only or hybrid classes to enable as many people as possible to participate.
We will do everything we can to keep going – we know that our resource is important to the well-being of our community.
The situation is fluid – for further details please contact the centre 029 2167 4242 (office hours) or email: secretary@caerphillyminerscentre.org.uk.

About
Our Roots
The Beeches was originally a mansion owned by a wealthy mining contractor, but in a remarkable endeavor it was bought by mine workers from 29 local pits using money collected via weekly contributions from their wages.  It was bought in 1919 and they converted the mansion into a hospital and ‘The Miners’ as it became affectionately known went on to serve the healthcare needs of local people for nearly 90 years.
We are open but please book before you visit.
Dear Miners’ Centre friends and visitors,

We are so pleased to be able to offer almost all our activities at the Centre again. Some social restrictions remain in place, for your safety, and you will need to book any activity in advance. But we know how much everyone has wanted to be able to visit the Miners and see their friends face-to-face, and we are pleased to be getting back to normal.
Refreshments are also available with activities, and our café will be opening (for restricted hours) from the 18th of September.
For those not able to visit the Centre in person, many of our activities will still be available online and we are building a Digital Wildlife Garden to complement our physical Climate Change Garden.
Our onsite businesses are also open and the Miners Wellbeing Hub will open on the second floor in September. Unfortunately, our first floor and lift will not be operational until October. But please get in touch if you want any information about our activities or the independent businesses based here.
We would like to welcome a number of new part-time staff that have joined us over the last few months. You can find out more about who’s who here.
And as always, we are keen to recruit more volunteers and stewards, to enable the Centre to run activities throughout the week, evenings and weekends. Please get in touch if you would like to join our excellent team of volunteers.
