Our vision is of a place where local people of all ages can come together, feel part of our community, learn from each other and celebrate our remarkable heritage.
We want to give the Caerphilly Miners back to the community!

DIGITAL WILDLIFE GARDEN
Photo Gallery
The Climate Change Garden is designed to demonstrate how we can adapt to the challenges of a warmer and more unpredictable climate. We are working to create opportunities to grow our own food, support biodiversity, protect habitats and provide a lovely space for enjoying being outdoors.
The Planning Stage
We began our journey with a consultation in January 2020, followed by observations of the site as a community.
Our Raised Vegetable Beds
As part of our plan to grow our own food, we created raised beds to use for planting.
Phase 1 were the beds created by Keep Wales Tidy. This was followed by Phase 2, our second row of raised beds which were created in 2021 with funding from the Landfill Trust.
Our Raised Flower Beds
We were keen to create formal gardens at front of the building by creating brick, raised flower beds.
Our Hugel Beds & Wildlife Meadow
Another method for growing food was creating Hugel Beds. If you'd like more information about this process, click here to discover a guide on our resources page.
The Pond & Path
We also wanted to create a garden for wellbeing, and so decided on creating a pond.
Originally, it began with some gravel then a black grid. But this was both expensive and couldn’t be laid flat. There was also a problem with restricted access for wheelchair users due to the width of the pathway. Our builders Phil and Alan decided to replace this with Portland stone.
The process has also been documented on our Time-lapse Page.
