Caerphilly Miners Centre is running a funded Digital Inclusion project to help those in the community who are in need of support with accessing our online and hybrid activities that are running from our Centre and with any other online needs. The pandemic has taught us how important it is to be able to keep in touch with friends and family but sadly many of the digitally excluded felt socially isolated. We want to break down those barriers of social exclusion and are running regular Digital courses from our centre, to support our community members.
New and Improved Courses!
We are now running 6 weekly courses, which will include 4 weeks of work focussed teaching and 2 weeks of problem solving to put all the skills you have learnt into practice. We have changed our model as we have found that some participants weren’t practicing their skills between sessions and encountered difficulty. However, if you are struggling and need help with any of your digital queries our IT Club drop-in sessions run every Tuesday from 11am – 12pm to support you with friendly digital volunteers.

What's it like in the classroom?

The courses are held in our IT Suite which are fitted with touch screen Lenovo desktops and office swing chairs which are fully adjustable for good ergonomics. There's also a whiteboard and projector for powerpoint instructions. We encourage our participants to use their own digital devices to learn on to make it easier for them but they're allowed to use our equipment if needed. We allow up to 7 participants to attend the digital courses so they're able to spread out and maintain social distancing. The course is well supported with additional digital volunteers to make sure everyone is seen to.
